In the past generation, kids were asked to smile during blush application to highlight the apple cheeks — however,  this lowered the blush placement than it should be, causing the opposite result.

Then what is the right way to apply a blush?

The "L-shape" blush application is one of the hottest trends to achieve a flattering flush. To do this, form a letter L using the index finger and thumb and use it as a guide on where to put the product.

"You're gonna place your thumb underneath your nostril and your pointer finger above your ear. In this little C-shape, that's where you're gonna apply your blush," said Jessica Carrasco, a makeup artist on TikTok.
